Growing Grimes.

As our parents used to tell us with many things in life, there's a right way to do it and a wrong way. Grimes is facing this decision now.

Our community has grown rapidly over the past 5 years - in exciting and concerning ways.  As our growth is expected to continue over the next 5 years, Grimes residents need to be sure that our quality of life and infrastructure is not sacrificed by property developers.

That's why I'm running for the Grimes City Council in November 2021. Read my goals below and let's work together to grow Grimes the right way.

LIVE

In a Safe and Vibrant Community

We have the opportunity to make Grimes a place where people from all walks of life want to live:

  • Safe and family-friendly

  • Amenities for young adults

  • Affordable housing for all

  • Space and resources for our older population

WORK

Do more to help local businesses find a home in Grimes.

As new development is happening, let's make space and support for small and local businesses so our community grows in culture and diversity that makes people from all over want to spend their time and money here.

  • Incentives for new buildings to lease to local businesses

  • Financial support and resources for small business owners

  • Strategic planning for businesses that offer different types of amenities

PLAY

Create more outdoor and recreational areas.

I want to ensure that recreational areas are planned and developed with all ages in mind from small children to seniors.

  • Young adult rec leagues that attract residents of Grimes and surrounding areas

  • Bike trails that connect to surrounding trails

  • Continued clubs and programs for kids

  • Accessible activities and spaces that allow all people regardless of age or ability to enjoy

GROW

We need to prioritize the things that makes Grimes livable and welcoming.

As our city continues to develop, the infrastructure and resources need to be growing at the same pace.

  • Making sure the connection of our sewer system to the WRA moves forward as planned so we limit the time that our current sewer system is over capacity

  • Extending the contract between Johnston and Grimes for fire services so long-term strategic planning and purchasing can be accomplished

  • Prioritizing a new fire station in Grimes
